Celebrating Portsmouth Inspiring Volunteer Awards

On Tuesday 30 September 2025, we had the privilege of attending the Portsmouth Inspiring Volunteer Awards. It was an evening dedicated to honouring the incredible individuals and groups who give their time, energy, and compassion to support others across our city.

Held at the beautiful Kings Theatre, the event marked a decade of celebrating volunteerism in Portsmouth. For ten years, this gathering has shone a spotlight on the quiet champions who positively impact their communities. Hearing the stories of each nominee was both humbling and uplifting. It is proof that kindness, resilience, and dedication are alive and thriving in every corner of the city.

Congratulations to all honourees

We extend our congratulations to Linda Waring, Tracy Stewart, and the team at Cycling Without Age. Your recognition is well-deserved, and your contributions continue to inspire us all.

  • Cycling Without Age – nominated for the Community Inclusion Team Award supported by Liquid Friday
  • Tracy Stewart, YOU Counselling Centres– nominated for the Health & Wellbeing Award supported by Comserv Property Services
  • Linda Waring, DRO Administrator Advice Portsmouth – nominated for the Education and Wellbeing Award supported by Irwin Mitchell Solicitors

Although Advice Portsmouth’s Linda Waring was named runner-up for the award, she is truly a winner in every sense of the word. Her unwavering commitment to debt administration and her broader support across the service are nothing short of extraordinary. We’d be lost without her tireless efforts, and her impact is felt deeply by every member of the team. Linda, thank you for everything you do—you make a real and lasting difference.

A special tribute to Cycling Without Age

Cycling Without Age Volunteer Co-ordinator Jenni Van Wijk had some special words for her team:

We’re especially proud to have reached the finals stage, knowing how many other amazing teams were nominated. This recognition is a testament to the wonderful work our volunteers do. They’re an asset to Portsmouth, Hayling Island, the YOU Trust, and the global Cycling Without Age family of Chapters.

Whether they’re taking passengers on joyful trishaw rides or simply bringing smiles to those who see them out and about, their presence is a gift to the community. We’re grateful for every moment they share and every connection they foster.

Here’s to another decade of celebrating the volunteers who help Portsmouth thrive.
